MEET OUR TEAM

Staff are passionate about serving the unique interests and needs of students with intercultural life experiences through our work with MuKappa Chapters across the country.

Each of the MuKappa administrative staff is interested and available to assist you in any way we can. Please feel free to contact us with questions about locating a MuKappa Chapter near you, starting a MuKappa Chapter at your college, or finding a way to connect with other TCKs. We are here to encourage you in your life’s journey.

“MuKappa is a place of belonging — where others like you understand what it means to move and say ‘hello’ and ‘goodbye,’ and how important it is to finally find community.”

Tammy Sharp | Director of MuKappa

Tammy is a TCK . . . born and raised in Brazil where her parents served as teachers and administrators. She first discovered and engaged with MuKappa when she attended Wheaton College, and it helped her transition well to living in the United States. After receiving her degree, she became a history teacher in Alaska, and later returned to teach in Brazil.

Later finishing her Master’s in Education, she began work at a missions agency serving TCKs. From there, Tammy joined Barnabas International in 2017 and became the Director of MuKappa in the summer of 2019 — coming full circle from being a TCK to serving TCKs.

Donna Messenger | MuKappa Consultant

Donna has worked with students for almost 40 years, both in the college setting and on the mission field in Ukraine. After years in cross-cultural ministry, she joined Barnabas International in 2008 and put her experience to work with MuKappa.

In 2012, Donna became the Director of MuKappa in addition to directing Barnabas International’s MK Transition Seminar at Cedarville University every summer. She passed the MuKappa Director role to Tammy in 2019 and serves now as a consultant for TCKs and international students.

She assists MuKappa Chapters with programming and outreach activities for TCKs and their greater campus community.

Judy Keith | MuKappa Advisor

Judy served with her husband in pastoral ministry for 12 years, and after his death continued to work with young people through her local church. Although not a missionary or MK herself, she has always had a passion for missions and compassion for her friends serving in other cultures. The desire to encourage them culminated with the ministry of MuKappa and she joined Barnabas International in 2004. Today Judy works as an advisor to MuKappa Chapters and enjoys encouraging TCKs wherever she finds them.

Join our Team

We are always looking for additional team members as well as volunteers at MuKappa, a ministry of Barnabas International. Barnabas International staff are passionate about caring for global workers through going, speaking, listening, and giving.

We would love to learn more about you, your area of interest and sharing how you can become a part of the MuKappa team.
