BECOME A CHAPTER

BECOME A CHAPTER

MuKappa makes it easy to organize and become an official Chapter.

The best MuKappa Chapters are initiated by MKs and TCKs. So, here is a list of things you’ll need to do.

Organize Your Group

The first thing you’ll want to do is to organize as a group of students on campus. Check with your Student Government Association on campus for the guidelines for registering as an official student organization. Often you will be required to have a constitution. Some schools provide sample constitutions but if you need one, click here to access a sample constitution.

You will have permission to use the “MuKappa” name for your group on campus after you have completed this registration process with MuKappa International.

Find a Faculty/Staff Advisor

MuKappa requires that you find a faculty or staff member to serve as an advisor for your group. This may also be required by your Student Government Association. Your advisor is key to the longevity of your MuKappa Chapter.

While it is important for your members to have significant ownership with your MuKappa Chapter, when a given group of officers graduate and move on, it is the consistency of an advisor that will perpetuate your MuKappa for years to come. This person does not need to be a TCK or even a global worker with overseas experience. But it is helpful if this person has an understanding of missions and a heart for your identity as TCKs.

Get a MuKappa email address

Each chapter should set up a general email account before you register with MuKappa. It can be something like, “mukappa@yourschool.edu” or it could even be a gmail account as long as the login information is passed along to the next person who will be responsible for MuKappa communication.  This will help MuKappa International stay in touch with your chapter from year to year, and give an easy way for prospective students to contact your chapter.

Register Your Chapter with MuKappa

In order to register with MuKappa International, you will need to complete a Registration Form and submit it to MuKappa. You will also need to provide a one-time registration fee of $100 to MuKappa. The registration fee includes the annual membership fee for the school year in which you join.

Annual Chapter Membership Renewal

At the beginning of each school year, we will send you a reminder to update your Chapter information and provide the annual membership dues of $50 by September 30 to retain your membership in MuKappa. If the dues are not received by the deadline, your Chapter information will be removed from the website and you will need to pay the Chapter Lapsed Renewal fee of $100 to reinstate your membership.
